Thank goodness for cranio-sacral therapists!
Last week I cracked a tooth and saw my dentist for some emergency treatment. Forty five minutes and four injections later my tooth had a temporary dressing. But my jaw ached as the anaesthetic wore off and, unusually I was having headaches.
Luckily I already had a session booked with my cranio-sacral therapist. She pointed out that as I’d had to lie still for a long period of time with my jaw held open, it was no wonder that I was having problems. It had affected the working balance of my neck muscles.
I encounter this kind of problem with my clients when they have been asked to lie or sit still for prolonged medical procedures but had forgotten it also applied to me.
One session later and I was back to my old self and able to use my Alexander principles again to keep it that way.
