For ideas on how the Alexander Technique can help you with you cycling and your bike in general, read this interesting article by Barry Collins. One of my cycling clients found it very helpful and recommended to me. http://www.cyclorama.net/viewArticle.php?id=147
Cycling clients of mine usually come for lessons because they are in pain. One problem is that one knee turns inward towards the bicycle frame, especially when trying to go faster or uphill. Another problem is neck pain from contracting the neck muscles to look forward. Sometimes the shoulder muscles are tensed as the cyclist looks over their shoulder. Hopefully the article will provide some solutions.
And don’t forget to do some stretches before and after. Boring, I know, but a couple of repetitions of basic calf, quadriceps and hamstring stretches can save future trouble from overly tight and shortened muscles. At least see a properly qualified sports massage therapist from time to time to maintain good tone and blood circulation.
